The first medium I experimented with was magazine clippings to create collages in the style of the Dada movement. I ran into difficulties with this media. Firstly, there was a lack of control over the images I could incorporate into my collages, limiting my ability to express my ideas and themes efficiently. Instead I decided to take my own pictures and from these use Photoshop to create collages. This jump from photomontage to digital collages gave me the ability to fluidly communicate my ideas unto my pieces, creating pieces which are clear and powerful. After experimenting with this medium I decided to take my collages a step further and create stock motion movies out of them, expanding the works even further and making the final products incredibly sophisticated.
Some of the inspiration for my works came from two artists who also use the collage medium to express similar ideas to the ones I use. These two artists are Sean Hillen and Nicolas Tantsoukes and both have influenced me greatly for my pieces.
