In this collection of paintings and drawings I introduce the concept of a philosophical understanding life. The work questions the accepted laws of life. To make this possible the “microscope” of “imagination” needs to be used to examine the various lifeform’s micro-cultural environments and their unnatural anatomies and diversities.
Space and time is also considered important, due to the unknown evolutionary development that these biological ‘fictions’ carry - it explores the connection between us and ‘them’.
This series is called “Micro - Anatomic Societies” as a result of their viewpoint, shapes, color and diversity. Its purpose is to create a new vision to understand life. Metaphorically; this collection shows life in the way a Babushka works. It tells us that each doll represents one dimension of life, which says that life can be in us and also outside us. How is this possible? Can we be seen as abstract as the collection’s creatures?
I began interpreting this idea with chalk and colored pencils sketches which produced a world full of mysteries. Later on the oil paintings developed into larger and more complex images to portray the invented ‘creatures’ lives. As a final addition, sculptures were created. The sculptures are white, and much more simplistic in design and color than the other pieces, in order to accentuate the difference between sculpture and canvas.
Considering that in my life I have been surrounded by different cultures and locations, I have often pondered on reality because in all my travels I experienced no fixed reality. This eternal questioning of life’s reality is reflected in my art work.
