All the attention is directed at you - “¿Caserita, qué necesita, qué le ofrezco?” - “Miss, what do you need? What are you looking for?”
At first, it can be somewhat intimidating. All the voices calling at once. The buzz of business is in the air. You can feel the electricity of the market, as stands promote and advance their produce.
But this is not the only thing that impresses. What shocks you from the beginning is the way the sellers organize their fruits and vegetables. It is simply breathtaking. Everyone seeks to present what they have to sell, in the most appealing fashion. It is like a natural display, where your way of surviving is for you to stand out more brightly than the competition.
I call this art. It is art because it takes time, skill and effort. It is art because of the aesthetics of the patterns and grids that are created. It is art because it evolves and it is volatile. It is art because it depends on its impact to tempt and delight customers.
I want to recognize the extraordinary in the ordinary by adding a glossy touch to them, and attempt to advertise their beauty. I seek to give this art a permanent shape in my photography, digital compositions, and paintings.
